A pale grey-white ground is scattered with irregular dark blue-grey and charcoal blots of varying size, loosely arranged across the whole surface. Near the top center, a small pale pink-to-green rectangle interrupts the pattern like a window or panel set into the mottled field.

The paint is built up in fine, dry, cross-hatched strokes that give the grey ground a granular, weathered texture, while the scattered dark blots are laid on more thickly and softly. The single warm rectangle draws the eye against the cool, non-representational field, leaving an austere, meditative impression.
