About this work
Several sailboats and yachts ride at anchor in a harbor thick with fog, their masts and rigging standing as dark verticals against a pale, luminous sky. Low hulls and the hint of a dockside structure at the left edge are barely legible through the mist, and faint reflections trail beneath the boats in the still water.
Pearl-gray and warm cream tones dominate, with a soft glow of gold breaking through the haze at the center where the sun tries to penetrate the fog. Thick, dragged strokes build the sky and mist, while the boats are indicated with a few economical dark touches, giving the scene a quiet, muffled calm.
