About this work
A small wooden house with a blue-framed window stands at left, its snow-laden roof edge catching the light, while a screen of tall bare birch trunks with a few remaining gold leaves crosses the middle of the composition. Behind them, low outbuildings and fences with patches of snow recede into the yard, and the foreground is an expanse of untouched snow marked by long diagonal shadows.
