About this work

Dark, leafless trees rise through a snow-covered park, their trunks framing a distant view of a red-domed church tower and a pink brick building beyond an iron fence. In the foreground a small child in a white hooded coat and blue trousers sits on a green park bench, while pigeons peck at scattered crumbs on the snow nearby.

The scene is painted in cool blue-greys and whites for the snow and sky, set against warmer ochre and brick-red tones in the distant architecture. Textured, visible brushstrokes build up the snow and bark, and the low winter light gives the quiet park a hushed, wintry calm.
