About this work
A group of nude women is spread across the sheet in varied poses: one sits cross-legged at left, another sits with an arm raised at upper right, a central figure stands with both arms lifted overhead, and a fifth reclines along the bottom edge, head resting on one hand. Large monstera leaves fill the gaps between figures, beside a hand-written cartouche giving the Russian title.
Fine, slightly tremulous ink lines are scratched across cream paper, with dense hatching for hair and shadow and a light touch for the leaf outlines. The drawing has the loose spontaneity of a working sketch, and the speech bubble 'SALUT!' beside one figure adds a wry, irreverent humor to the otherwise classical nude poses.
