About this work
A broad, mirror-still lake fills the middle ground, bordered by pale, water-worn boulders breaking the surface in the foreground and a low mountain ridge with jagged, saw-toothed peaks along the far shore. A wide sky of drifting clouds tinged with rose and apricot fills the upper half, its glow reflected faintly in the calm water. No figures or vessels appear.
The palette shifts from cool lavender-grey water and violet-blue mountains to warm rose and peach streaks overhead, applied with soft, blended brushwork that keeps distant forms hazy and edges soft. Diffuse morning or evening light lends the whole scene a hushed, contemplative stillness.
