About this work
The canvas holds no recognizable objects: an orange-red bloom spreads across the upper right and bleeds down into a dark indigo-violet pool at center, while scattered flecks of blue, green, and white cross a pale cream and ochre field below. Thin scratched lines crisscross the surface like a faint diagram, and the lower edge dissolves into pale blue-grey.
Warm reds and oranges are set against cool blues and violets, built up in thick impasto and scored with scratched marks that reveal lighter layers beneath. The handling is loose and gestural, with no horizon or focal object to anchor the eye, producing a charged, turbulent, intensely atmospheric mood.
