About this work
A single upright tube stands centered on a nearly bare ground, its lower body crimped and folded as if squeezed, a small cap visible at the top. No other objects share the surface; a faint cast shadow beneath the tube is the only indication of light and space.
The surface is worked almost entirely in taupe and grey, with scraped, scratched impasto and a few silvery streaks marking the folds. Colour barely varies across the canvas, and the object nearly merges with its ground, producing a hushed, meditative stillness.
