About this work
A round, porthole-like frame encloses a distorted face with small curling horns, wide staring eyes, and a jutting snout-like nose, rendered as a tangle of overlapping scribbled lines. Below the circle a small, simply outlined body with short limbs stands on an oval patch of ground, giving the impression of a bust or emblem set above a diminutive figure.
The image is built entirely in black ink line and cross-hatching on mottled, stained paper, with no color or shading beyond the density of the marks. The tangled, obsessive linework around the face creates a mysterious, unsettling presence, while the plain outlined body beneath feels comparatively fragile and still.
