About this work
Two stylized, angular figures share a warm ochre ground: at left a woman draped in folded magenta and green cloth kneels with hands crossed on her chest; at right a taller winged figure in a green scroll-patterned robe raises one hand, finger pointed upward, and holds a dark blue palm frond beside a fractured silver banner. Between them stands a vase of white lilies.
Forms are built from flattened, faceted planes — drapery folds read as sharp geometric shards, wings splinter into angular silver segments — recalling both cubist fragmentation and the frontal stillness of icon painting. Bold magenta, green, ochre and silver are applied in smooth, even fields, giving a hieratic, contemplative calm.
