About this work
A gravel path curves through a park where two white marble-toned statues of standing female nudes rise on a low pedestal amid overhanging branches. Dense trees in russet, amber and ochre foliage arch overhead and along both sides, framing an open sunlit clearing beyond, with another pale statue faintly visible further down the path.
Broken, textured brushstrokes build up the canopy in warm oranges, golds and deep greens, contrasted against cool white light striking the statues and pale sandy ground. Loose, painterly handling and dappled highlights create a warm, hazy atmosphere, evoking a quiet, contemplative garden interior bathed in autumn-toned color.
