About this work
A tall gilt candelabrum holding three unlit green candles anchors the composition, flanked by a crystal decanter, a wine goblet and two tall glasses arranged on a dark cloth-covered table. Behind the objects, a wall hung with blue-and-white ceramic plates and patterned tiles fills the background, its cool decoration echoing the shapes of the glassware.
Cool blues and silvery whites dominate the palette, broken only by the warm gold of the candelabrum and a touch of wine-red in one goblet. Brushwork is loose and blended, softening the pattern of the tiles into abstract washes while the metal and glass are picked out with brighter, more defined highlights, giving the arrangement a quiet, refined stillness.
