About this work
A pale, roughly oval mass of cream and white paint, threaded with red streaks, sits at the center of the canvas, flanked by dense patches of turquoise, cobalt blue, and sea green. No table, vessel, or bird anatomy is clearly legible; the composition reads as a loosely gathered heap of forms rather than a conventional arranged still life.
Paint is dragged, dabbed, and dripped directly onto unstretched, visibly creased canvas, leaving raw fabric showing through at the edges. The heavy, unblended color and rough surface give the picture an intense, unsettled energy closer to abstract gesture painting than to a descriptive still-life study.
