Two dancers occupy the center of the canvas in an off-balance lift: a woman arches backward, head tipped down and one arm raised, shoulder bared beneath a dark top, while her partner bends forward beneath her, head lowered, in a pale ivory tunic with one leg extended along the floor. Red drapery falls at the left, and a small lit vignette glows faintly at the right edge, suggesting a stage.

Muted greys, browns and warm flesh tones dominate, broken by that patch of red and a few warm highlights at the edge. Strong chiaroscuro isolates the two figures against a deep, shadowed ground, and loose, gestural brushwork captures motion rather than detail, giving the image an intense, off-balance charge.
