About this work
Two multi-story apartment buildings rise behind a low concrete wall: the nearer one an open skeleton of raw concrete floors and balcony slabs, the farther one more finished with pale rendered walls. A curved access road with painted lane markings sweeps through an empty lot scattered with rubble and dark shrubs.
A brooding blue-grey storm sky presses over the site, its heavy clouds broken by a warm brown streak in one corner. The buildings are rendered in flattened planes of pink-white, grey and near-black with sharp, ruled edges, giving the unfinished structure a stark, graphic silhouette against the darkening weather.
