About this work
A nude woman is seated with her back to the viewer, dark hair gathered up, one arm resting against a heap of mustard-yellow drapery bunched beneath her. To the right a glass holds a small spray of pink and white flowers on a ledge, while a patterned yellow-and-blue curtain edges the left side of the composition.
Soft, even light models the back and shoulders in warm flesh tones against a muted beige-gray wall, with the yellow drape and curtain providing the only saturated color notes. Brushwork is loose and blended in the figure, looser and more textured in the background, producing a calm, intimate interior mood.
