About this work
Overlapping angular planes build the composition: some resemble the sloped wall of a corner or ramp, others read as vertical bands or a strip of open sky. A pale beige triangular shape occupies the upper left, capped by a thick, roughly applied patch of white, while dark green and near-black wedges fill the rest of the canvas.
Paint is applied in contrasting textures: smooth, thin glazes in the dark greens and maroons against the heavily loaded white impasto highlight. Narrow slivers of muted red running vertically add a subdued accent to the darkness, producing a shadowed, abstract mood closer to an architectural fragment than a legible scene.
