About this work
Multi-story houses in white, ochre and rust are stacked closely along a hillside above a curving beach, their facades broken by dark window openings. A dark tower-like structure stands at the water's edge on the right, and small boats are suggested along the shoreline where sand meets bright turquoise water.
Built up entirely with thick palette-knife strokes, the paint is dragged and layered into rough, sun-bleached facades that catch glancing light. Warm terracotta and gold tones stand against a cool, cloud-streaked sky and vivid cyan sea, giving the view a bright, tactile, sunlit warmth.
