About this work
A two-story white house with terracotta roofs and a small wooden balcony rises behind a full, leafy tree that fills the center of the composition. A moored boat with an orange awning sits at the right, drawn up against a stone quay, while calm green-tinted water fills the foreground and reflects the house and foliage.
Warm whites, terracotta orange and layered greens are built up with thick, textured strokes that give the stonework, foliage and water a tactile, sunlit surface. Bright daylight falls evenly across the scene, and the reflections in the water are rendered with loose, broken touches of color.
