About this work
Rows of animals - camel, lion, stag, bull, horse, ram, boar, hare, crocodile and birds - are stacked in tiers as glowing line drawings over a black field, rising toward jagged mountain-like crystal forms across the top. A pale blue sky filled with flying birds fills the upper corners, while a blue grid pattern runs along the lower edge like a map or foundation beneath the gathered creatures.
The palette is restricted to acid green, yellow and violet lines luminous against deep black, scratched with fine cross-hatched texture recalling engraved scratchboard. Animal forms are flattened and stylised rather than modeled, giving the whole an otherworldly, primordial atmosphere evoking a mythic gathering of creatures beneath a crystalline mountain range.
