About this work
A tall copper or brass ewer with a curved spout and looped handle sits atop a table draped in a burnt-orange cloth patterned with scrolling motifs. Beneath it spills an embroidered textile densely worked with blue, purple, pink, and orange flowers and finished with a long fringe. Behind the vessel a pale curtain falls in soft folds, and to the left a narrow banner or rug shows a star, striped bands, and a spiral emblem.
Warm coppery highlights and deep reflected shadows model the metal vessel with careful, controlled brushwork, while the embroidered textile is built up in flat, saturated patches of color that read as pattern rather than illusionistic fabric. The cooler grey-white curtain and blue table edge set off the concentrated warmth of the central still life, giving the arrangement a rich, contemplative stillness.
