About this work
A geometrically simplified female figure with dark blue contour lines stands in three-quarter view, eyes closed, drawing on a long white cigarette holder with a curl of smoke rising above her. Behind her spreads a row of golden riverside buildings topped by a gilded cathedral dome, and the entire upper scene is mirrored below the waterline in a rippling reflection that fills the lower half of the canvas.
