About this work
A giant blue octopus drapes its tentacles over a glossy black grand piano set on a round white platform inside the ruined tiers of the Colosseum; a plume of rainbow-colored mist rises from the crown of its head into the pale sky, while weathered stone arches curve away on either side.
Muted greys and browns of the ancient ruins set off the octopus's slick blue-green skin and the piano's polished black lacquer, painted with smooth, near-photographic detail against looser, textured brushwork in the architecture.
