About this work

A street corner is seen from above, with a turquoise building marked 'La Case de Paul' and a no-parking sign on the left, and a dark green café awning over red round tables to the right. Clipped rounded hedges and a striped awning corner fill the foreground, with the pale roadway curving between the buildings under bright daylight.

Painted in oil with flat, simplified planes and firm outlines, the palette contrasts cool turquoise and grey with warm ochre walls and red accents. The blocky, graphic handling and empty street give the scene a still, quiet midday calm.
