About this work
A gravel path cuts diagonally through a dense grove of tall trees, their trunks and dappled canopy filling most of the composition. Two small figures walk together along the sunlit path toward the viewer, past a wooden bench set in the shade at lower right. Pale two-story buildings with a pitched roof are glimpsed through the foliage at the center, closing the vista.
Light breaks through the leaves in loose patches of yellow-green and white, scattered across the path and tree trunks in quick, broken strokes. The palette is built from cool greens and blues in shadow against warm sunlit passages, applied with visible, energetic brushwork typical of plein-air painting. The overall feeling is quiet and unhurried, a still summer moment in a shaded park.
