About this work
A cat is seen from behind, seated with its tail curled around its haunches and its head turned slightly away from the viewer, ears alert. The animal fills the lower half of an otherwise empty sheet, isolated against a plain white background with no setting or props indicated.
A single grey-black wash builds the whole form in a few broad, wet strokes, darkest at the head and lightening toward the tail, with almost no separate outline.
