About this work
The swing frame's blue tubular legs and yellow chains rise from six irregular stone or concrete anchors set into bare, patchy ground; the varnished wooden seat hangs motionless at the center. Behind it, a symmetrical wall with two carved diamond-relief panels flanks a pale door, framing the empty apparatus like a stage.
Soft grey, cream and dusty blue dominate the palette, with touches of ochre in the chains and pockets of green grass breaking the muted ground. Light is even and diffuse, brushwork restrained and dry, giving the scene a hushed, wistful stillness.
