About this work
A girl lies asleep on her stomach on a bed, head turned into a white pillow with one arm hanging over the edge and bare feet visible at the foot of the bed. A wooden nightstand beside the bed holds a pale ceramic pitcher with a loose bouquet of small flowers and a small house-shaped box or lamp. Through a window behind the bed, dark trees and a hillside are visible under a pale, glowing sky.
The whole scene is painted in soft, blended pastels - dusty pinks, pale blues and creams - with diffuse light that leaves edges soft and forms only loosely defined.
