About this work
Broad cracked panels of blue and teal fill the upper two-thirds of the canvas like an open sky, while below, tan, ochre and cream shapes overlap into rolling, hill-like forms. A pale, curling band winds through the lower half like a road or river, bordered by a dark band and a small red-and-white marker at left.
Acrylic is layered over the ivory ground in flat, cracked planes broken by small pitted, glittering patches of gold and rust. Cool blues dominate above a warmer earth-toned band below, and the winding pale form catches the eye like light on a path, giving the composition a calm, open expansiveness.
