About this work

Dry, bent grasses, broken reeds and fallen stalks cover the lower half of the canvas in intricate, overlapping detail, while the upper half dissolves into flat, pale fog. A faint tire track or path cuts diagonally through the undergrowth toward the hazy horizon, the only hint of depth in an otherwise shallow, textured field.

Rendered almost entirely in muted beige, grey and ochre, the surface is built from countless fine, dry brushstrokes that mimic individual blades and twigs. The fog erases any horizon line, flattening distance into a soft, uniform glow. The near-monochrome restraint and meticulous detail create a quiet, contemplative stillness verging on desolation.
