About this work
The triptych shows a weathered two-story wooden building, possibly an old landing-stage pavilion, with fretwork balconies, shuttered windows, and a faded red star atop its central gable. Tall pines rise behind against a pale sky; below, a courtyard scattered with an old tire, a ladder, and debris signals abandonment. A blond girl in a white smock stands in the left panel, dwarfed by the building.
Muted turquoise-grays, rust reds, and dusty ochres form flat, graphic patches with careful linework on the woodwork, while the pale, even sky throws the structure's decay into relief. The tripartite format widens the view into a panorama, and the stillness of the empty galleries against the child's presence gives the scene a quiet, melancholic hush.
