About this work
A tiered blue-and-white bell tower with a small dome rises at the center of a path framed by dark rows of trees. A scatter of birds wheels in the sky above it, and faint figures are suggested along the sunlit ground below, receding between the dense foliage on either side.
A warm cream-yellow sky glows behind the cool-toned tower, while deep green-black shadow in the trees sets up a strong contrast of light and dark. Loose, quick strokes describe the birds and foliage, and touches of ochre mark the sunlit path, giving the view a dreamy, glowing atmosphere.
