About this work
A tiger is shown leaping diagonally across the canvas, its body twisting in mid-air with front paws drawn up close to the chest and hind legs trailing behind. The tail curls upward, and the head turns toward the viewer, mouth slightly open with whiskers fanned out. No ground, sky, or setting appears - only the animal isolated against a solid blue field.
Warm orange and black striped fur contrasts sharply with the cool, uniform blue ground. Light models the muscular body with bright highlights along the chest and back and deep shadow beneath the belly and legs. Brushwork is smooth and tightly blended, giving the coat an almost sculptural sheen, and the flat backdrop makes the leap feel immediate and forceful.
