About this work
A tall church facade with twin lace-like spires and an ornate arched portal rises before a paved square, flanked by a long colonnaded wing and a domed structure further back. Small figures stand near the entrance, dwarfed by the soaring stone tracery, while pale sky and reflective wet pavement extend the pale blue tonality across the whole scene.
Built almost entirely from cool blues, greys, and chalky whites, the surface is worked in broad, slashing strokes that blur architectural detail into vibrating light rather than describing it precisely. The loose, impressionistic handling and monochrome palette give the monument a hazy, almost dreamlike presence despite its solid Gothic mass.
