About this work
A dancer sits with one leg drawn up, bent forward to adjust the ribbon of her pointe shoe. Her dark hair is gathered at the nape of her neck, and she wears a pale, loosely draped practice dress. Beside her a mirror reflects her face and shoulder, doubling the quiet pose within the soft, diffused interior.
Soft pastel strokes build a warm, hazy light that blurs edges between figure, mirror, and background, with only the face and hands left in sharper focus. Muted creams, browns and pale blues create a tranquil, close atmosphere. The handling is gentle and unhurried, capturing a private, self-contained moment of rest.
