About this work
A close, dark mass of leafy branches occupies almost the entire canvas, painted so densely that individual leaves merge into a single dark green shape. Small gaps between the foliage reveal bright, sunlit patches, likely the surface of water or open sky, glimpsed on the right side, while thin dark branches cut across the lower portion.
The palette is built almost entirely from deep, near-black greens set against a few luminous cream highlights, giving strong tonal contrast rather than varied color. Brushwork is loose and broken, dabbed rather than blended, suggesting dappled light filtering through leaves, and the effect is shadowy and enclosed.
