About this work

Kitchen utensils and food fill a shallow shelf: a green metal colander and funnel hang beside a glass bottle, a dented metal kettle, a wooden cutting board, a dark wine bottle, a small copper pot, a padlock, an unlit candle, a folded white cloth, and a bright green lemon, all crowded together against a patterned wall.

Deep reds, magentas, and near-black shadows dominate the background, pushing the metallic grays and greens of the objects forward in sharp contrast. Paint is applied in bold, flat patches with dark outlines around each form, giving the composition a stylized, almost graphic weight. The saturated color and compressed space create a dense, intense mood rather than a naturalistic kitchen corner.
