About this work
A vertical stand of slender pine trunks, their upper bark glowing reddish-orange and lower bark grey, lines a rutted dirt road that forks and winds into the depths of the forest. Ferns, grass, and low bushes fill the ground between the trees, with a fallen log resting at the lower left and darker woods closing the view behind.
Deep greens and earthy red-browns dominate the palette, with warm light catching the upper trunks against a cooler, shadowed forest interior. Vertical brushstrokes echo the rhythm of the trunks, while the undergrowth is built with looser, dabbed strokes, producing a quiet, secluded woodland mood.
