About this work
A tight cluster of pink, red, yellow and cream flowers overflows a pale, ribbed stone urn standing on a plain tan tabletop. The wall behind is a flat expanse of blue-grey, with no other furniture or objects to distract from the vessel and its blooms.
Paint is applied thickly with a palette knife, building the urn and petals into a rough, almost sculpted relief that catches light unevenly across its ridges. The wall and table are worked in broader, drier strokes of grey-blue and sand, keeping the surrounding space calm and understated.
