About this work

A steep-gabled log barn fills the frame, a horned skull perched at its peak like a totem. Below it, peeled birch logs stacked on a bench show carved growth rings, while a stump bristling with bare roots and broken branches sits in front, edged by tall grasses.

Bark browns, bleached whites, and streaks of ochre and green are built up in thick, grainy strokes that echo real wood texture. Flat, even light turns the barn wall into a graphic backdrop, giving the sculptural clutter of skull, logs, and roots a hushed, meditative stillness.
