About this work
A cluster of nude women crowd around a bride wearing a floral wreath and veil, reaching toward a bare-chested young man draped in green cloth. Nearby a figure floats above a red-and-yellow carousel, while at right a seated bald man and a laughing woman occupy a tire-swing frame beside a toy truck, all set within a leafy playground of slides and climbing frames.
Figures are modeled with smooth, naturalistic anatomy and warm flesh tones set against the primary reds, blues and yellows of the play equipment and near-black foliage. Strong directional light carves the bodies in relief, and the collision of a classical wedding myth with ordinary playground furniture gives the scene an unsettling, dreamlike theatricality.
