About this work
The composition is entirely abstract: a wide orange field streaked with dense black scribbles occupies the upper left, giving way to a rough coral-red mound built up in thick paint at center, bordered by patches of turquoise and cream. Below, a band of grey-blue with pooling red marks and faint sketched lines closes the lower edge; no landscape motif or object is legible despite the title.
Layers of scratched graphite, dripped paint, and small round black stamps build a rough, worked surface across the reds and oranges. The palette of burnt orange, coral, teal, and slate is applied with visible impasto and scraping rather than blending, producing a raw, unresolved, heavily worked field.
