About this work
A cluster of stone houses and a tall bell tower rise at the top of a steep, eroded cliff, connected to the land by a single narrow road that switches down the slope. Thick white mist pools around the base of the outcrop, dissolving the rock's lower edges into fog while tightly packed rooftops catch the light above.
Warm gold and amber dominate the town and cliff, applied in thick, dragged strokes that give the rock a crumbling, sun-struck texture, while pale lavender-grey mist is softened with thin, milky paint below. Cooler violet shadows model the cliff's folds against the glowing stone, giving the scene a luminous, almost weightless quality.
