About this work

An old metal kettle, a small enamel cup, and a plate stand on a bare wooden table beside a lit candle in a brass holder. Behind them a tall window is crossed with strips of tape in an X pattern, a defensive marking against blast damage. A worn teddy bear with a frayed red ribbon sits propped on a chair at the table's edge, as though waiting.

Cool blue-grey light from the window dominates the scene, warmed only by the candle's small glow and the bear's brown fur. Paint is applied in soft, chalky layers that blur textures into a hazy stillness. The empty second chair and lone bear give the quiet interior a somber, wartime memory of absence.
