Black piano

Two tall paneled doors, one pale blue and one ochre-yellow, open onto a shadowy room where a small window frames a hazy waterfront at dusk, its still water catching a low golden glow near a distant pier. In the foreground the dark, curved lid of a grand piano rises above strips of frayed raw canvas, its lacquered surface streaked with rose-colored light.

Built up in thickly textured acrylic over an ivory ground, the surface is scored, pitted and crusted like weathered plaster, with door panels incised into the paint and coarse frayed fabric left exposed at the base. Muted greys, greens and browns give way to the glowing window and the piano's rosy sheen, creating a hushed, enigmatic interior.
