About this work
A row of tall, leafless trees curves along a paved lane bordered by a low stone-and-iron fence, their black silhouettes bending inward to frame a hazy avenue receding toward a group of lit streetlamps. Beyond the fence, a misty park recedes into rows of poplars, while a solitary red-coated figure walks away near the vanishing point of the path.
The sky burns in bands of dusty rose, amber, and violet, dissolving into a soft haze that wraps the black tree trunks in a diffused halo of lamplight. Thin, controlled brushwork builds up bark and branch detail against smoothly blended atmospheric passages, giving the twilight scene a hushed, melancholic stillness.
