About this work
A narrow, flooded stream winds through a birch and pine wood, its dark surface scattered with fallen orange and yellow leaves; slender white birch trunks and darker pine trees stand along both banks, with a leaf-covered path visible at lower left.
Warm rust, gold and ochre tones cover the forest floor and canopy, set against the near-black water and cooler grey-violet shadows among the trunks; soft, textured pastel strokes blur into hazy depth toward the back of the wood, creating a hushed, damp autumn atmosphere.
