About this work
A bearded, horned satyr stands at left, one arm raised and fingers splayed as if reaching toward a nude woman beside him. She reclines with both arms lifted above her head, breasts bare, smiling with closed eyes as though laughing. The two figures crowd the frame in close, overlapping proximity.
Dense cross-hatching and repeated pen strokes model both bodies, set against a warm ochre-orange wash that bleeds softly around their outlines. Ink spatter dots the lower edge of the sheet. The frantic linework and warm ground give the scene a playful, slightly manic energy.
