About this work
Tall, flattened columns in dusty pink, sage and rose recede toward a narrow arched niche, forming a stage-like architectural passage. A black-framed hourglass stands in the foreground, its upper bulb solid olive green and its lower half filled with mottled yellow and grey sand. To the right, coral-toned masonry with small dark windows breaks the muted palette.
Forms are simplified to flat planes outlined in ochre, with no cast shadows or perspective depth beyond the receding columns, giving the composition a symbolic, stage-set quality. The chalky, matte acrylic surface and restrained, dusty palette of pink, olive and coral evoke stillness and the passage of time, reinforced by the hourglass at the centre of the empty corridor.
