About this work
Three panels form one composition: at left a two-stage rocket climbs through billowing white smoke and haze; in the center two suited astronauts sit harnessed at the controls of a capsule interior, surrounded by a luminous blue halo and reaching toward switches and a small window showing the moon; at right a compact white spacecraft drifts in black space silhouetted against a large cratered planet.
